Sometimes you find culture in places you wouldn’t expect. For instance in the way Amsterdam pub’s names are written in the special Amsterdam curly letter on pub windows. The letter was commonly used in Amsterdam and surroundings from the 1950’s untill about 2000. It is inspired on a letter first published in 1605, but has developed through time into this curly one. On the blog: ‘ I love typography’, Ramiro Espinoza tells about his research and his attempt to prevent the letter from extinction by further developing it, like it always has been through time.
